I am a dachshund dog and I am very different from your average dog. I am easily spotted out and about with my distinctive features. Let me explain to you what they are.
As you can see, I am quite petite when compared to most other dogs. I am also the cutest. I don’t mean to brag, but I am one of the cutest dogs that you will find out there. I usually make heads turn and people walking on the street always stop to pet me. Read along to find out how I am different from other dogs.
Physical Appearance
My most distinctive feature is my height. I am tiny throughout my life. I am quite a petite animal. My trunk is close to the ground, supported by my short legs. My trunk is also rather long and straight. While other kinds of dogs start off by being my height, they won’t be puppies forever. They will continue to grow for another four to five years. I am not going to grow more than two or three feet in height.
My paws are usually wider than that of other dogs because initially, I was bred to dig furrows and hunt for prey underground or for tiny prey like rabbits. As such, my paws are extremely well developed. The skin on them is thicker, which facilitates my ability to easily dig and pounce on small prey.
Fur
Dachshunds come in just three kinds of coats: short-haired, long-haired, and wirehaired. I also come in a variety of colors and textures.
Color
I am mostly available in darker shades, some even extremely dark. The main coat colors of dachshunds are dark brown, black, or tan. I also come in shades of red, different ravishing shades of red that make me look really good. Dachshunds have a distinctive feature – the color of the fur becomes a little darker around the eye, a nice feature.
Size
As you know, I am petite compared to most other dogs. But my breed does have its own universally recognizable subcategories, the standard size and the miniature, the latter of which allows you to practically carry me around everywhere in one hand.
And there is the lesser-known size that is a little tinier and not as well known, the Kaninchen. These dachshunds are the size of rabbits and they are the absolute cutest. Kaninchen are the size of little pups and the best part is that they never grow up.
Eye Color
I have the prettiest eyes. They are usually lighter, like green or amber, but the shape and overall health of my eyes is superior. In some cases, my eyes can be multicolored. You should definitely consider adopting me because of the love I carry in my beautiful little eyes.
Character And Nature
You must know that I was initially a hunting dog and therefore, I bring my stubbornness and fierceness along with me. I can be much more playful than your average dog. If you choose to adopt me, you can always count on me for high energy playtime and love sessions where I wag my tail and jump all around you. I am also very intelligent and capable of sensing emotions. Not many other dogs are capable of offering all these characteristics. They are either fierce or playful or well behaved and intelligent. But that is not the case with me. I am a little more of a ‘jack of all trait’s kind of dog, which makes me the perfect companion to take home with you.
Conclusion
I am not saying that I am better than other dogs, but I sure am some tough competition. My most appealing feature is that I do not grow too big so I look like a cute puppy forever. I have a mixture of all the perfect characteristics, making me a friendly, caring and intelligent dog. You should also really adopt me because I am the cutest!
